Life at the Edge of the Pond
Santa Fe has long been blessed with a location far from major literal and figurative upheavals in real estate. It's as if we are on the edge of a pond. When a huge stone is thrown in the middle of the national market it makes a big splash, yet the waves turn to ripples when they reach the shore here in Santa Fe. Big splashes occur in L.A., New York and similar markets, but their effects are minimal, or even beneficial, when they arrive here.
We have not had the huge, sudden rises in value other areas experienced and therefore have not had major downward moves to correct for over-inflation. Our ups and downs have been much gentler and there is no reason this should change.
